| THE LOWDOWN: The Truck is down obviously, it needs massive work. As you can see in the pictures the crossover steering is complete. I couldn't go hy-steer because of the springs, but anything is possible so it will be in its future. New locker and carrier and axle shafts, pretty much everything got replaced, I'm sure glad I planted that money tree in the backyard!!! The suspension is also in need of revamping, I'm going to relocate the rear hangers, for front springs, to necessitate better ride and a lot better articulation. I have already completed relocating the rear springs, aft hanger. (lowest right picture) The hydraulic steering is on hold momentarily, until I figure out if I want to push modifying to facilitate hy-steer. Then the ram would be in a different place and I'd hate to mount it then have to remount it. THE UPDATE: The truck is running like a bat out of hell now, I rebuilt the carb, and tuned the ignition including new correct temperature and gapped plugs and plug wires. Its disgustingly fast and loud!! The truck is dark grey primer now, temporarily. Finally put the beadlocks together and mounted them. Extremely happy with the beadlock two piece and inserts. I aired them down to 3 psi then lower to 1 psi and they were holding up just fine, rolling around the yard. I got a tube bender and I've been working on making tube fenders and the hoop front which will have supporting bars going directly into the front grill and then to the frame. Although I need to move the radiator into the back first, to get it out of the way. Still working on a good place for the rear shocks. They are temporarily mounted now, till I get a better spot for them. |
